Pilot Seriously Injured in Iredell County Plane Crash

At about 12:20 this afternoon (January 14), the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to an airplane crash in Iredell County at 157 Normandy Road. The pilot was attempting to land a 2000 single-engine Cessna at Lake Norman Airpark when the plane struck several trees and crashed into the front yard of the Normandy Road residence.

The pilot, 62-year-old Peter Granow of Tega Cay, South Carolina, was transported by Iredell County E.M.S. to Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte with serious injuries.

The Highway Patrol secured the scene. The F.A.A. will conduct an investigation.
