52-year-old Clifton Leineille Meade of Clairton, Pennsylvania, was arrested Monday (July 27) by Iredell County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with felony counts of trafficking heroin by possession and transportation, possession with intent to sell or deliver heroin, and maintaining a vehicle for controlled substance. In addition, he’s charged with misdemeanor counts of possession of marijuana paraphernalia, possession of drug paraphernalia, and no operators license.
On Monday, deputies assigned to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Interstate Criminal Enforcement (ICE) Team were patrolling on I-77 North in the area of Mile Marker 65, when they conducted a vehicle stop due to traffic violations. The rental car had a West Virginia tag.
Deputies spoke with the driver, Clifton Meade, who told them he was traveling from Atlanta to Pennsylvania. Police reports say marijuana and drug paraphernalia were in plain view inside of the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was conducted, and officers reportedly found 25.3 grams of heroin, marijuana, and additional drug paraphernalia.
Meade was arrested without incident. He was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center where his bond was set at $250,000 secured. He remained in jail as of earlier today (July 29). Meade’s next District Court date is set for August 12.
