A man was struck by a vehicle earlier this week in Morganton. On Tuesday (November 7), at 9:20 a.m., the Morganton Department of Public Safety responded to the intersection of East Union Street at Bouchelle Street to a reported motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian. The investigation revealed that the victim was walking in the crosswalk on Bouchelle Street when he was struck by a Honda SUV.

The vehicle traveled a short distance after striking the man, and came to a stop on the sidewalk at The Downtown Sports Bar. Burke County EMS transported the pedestrian to UNC Blue Ridge to be treated. Injuries reported to the individual include to his knee and hip, as well as head trauma. The collision is currently under investigation and charges are pending.
