A pedestrian was killed in a Catawba County Collision. The deceased is 63-year-old Raymond Lee Gentry of Conover. On Thursday (April 13) at approximately 10:40 p.m., the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to U.S. 70 near Penny Road. A pedestrian on U.S. 70 was struck by a vehicle that immediately fled the scene.

Raymond Lee Gentry passed away as a result of his injuries at the scene. The Highway Patrol is requesting assistance from anyone who may have been involved or seen something in the area of U.S. 70 from approximately 10:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Those with information regarding this collision should contact the Highway Patrol at 828-466-5500.
