Pedestrian Struck And Killed By Vehicle, Driver Arrested

A pedestrian was killed in a collision Tuesday night (October 17) in Lincoln County. The deceased is 33-year-old Chadwick Lee Garmon of Vale. The driver of the vehicle that struck Mr. Garmon has been charged.

On Tuesday at approximately 9:20 p.m., the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to N.C. 27 near Millers Park Lane. A 2015 Ford Explorer was traveling west on NC 27 and struck a pedestrian who was walking westbound in the roadway. The pedestrian was wearing dark clothing and the roadway was not lighted.

The pedestrian, Chadwick Lee Garmon, passed away as a result of his injuries at the scene. The driver of the Explorer, 51-year-old Naomi Elizabeth Yandle of Vale, was not injured. The initial investigation does indicate impairment to be a contributing factor.

Yandle was arrested and charged with driving while impaired. Additional charges are possible pending completion of the ongoing investigation and consultation with the Lincoln County District Attorney’s Office. During the on-scene investigation, the roadway was closed in the area for approximately two hours.
