Pedestrian Seriously Injured In Long View Crash, Investigation Ongoing
LONG VIEW, N.C. (WHKY) – A crash involving a pedestrian that resulted in serious injuries is under investigation in Long View. On Tuesday (August 4), at approximately 6:00 p.m., the Long View Police Department responded to a call for service concerning a motor vehicle collision with injuries at the 2200 block of U.S. Highway 70 SW, in Hickory. The collision involved a vehicle driven by an adult female and an adult male pedestrian pushing a bicycle in the roadway.
While conducting a thorough traffic collision investigation, officers determined that a black BMW sedan struck a pedestrian pushing a bicycle traveling westbound. The pedestrian sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital by Catawba County Emergency Medical Services for medical treatment. The driver of the BMW reported no injuries.
The Long View Police Department cited the driver of the BMW with failure to reduce speed to avoid a collision. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information concerning this investigation is asked to call the Long View Police Department at 828-327-2343.
