Pedestrian Killed In Weekend Crash
A Lincoln County resident was killed in a crash involving a pedestrian over the weekend. The deceased is 90-year-old Henry Erson Whitener of Crouse.
On Saturday (October 14) at approximately 11:10 p.m., the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to Leonards Fork Church Road near N.C. 182 in Lincoln County. A 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 was traveling north on Leonards Fork Church Road and struck a pedestrian who was walking in the roadway.
The pedestrian, Henry Erson Whitener, was critically injured and transported by medical helicopter to Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, where he succumbed to his injuries on October 15. The driver of the Dodge was not injured.
During the on-scene investigation, Leonards Fork Church Road was closed for approximately two hours. No charges are expected to be filed in this case.
