Pair of Lenoir-Rhyne Baseball Players Earn to Preseason All-Region Team

Blake Bean and Sal Carricato were named to the 2024 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Preseason All-Southeast Region Team that was announced Tuesday afternoon.

Bean, the graduate student from Farmington Hills, Mich., was named as one of the three outfielders while Carricato, the redshirt junior from Long Island, N.Y., was named to the designated hitter position.

In Bean’s first season in Hickory, the Kalamazoo College transfer started in all 54 games and recorded team-highs in hits (73) and runs (61). The graduate student also led the team with a 1.179 OPS amongst qualified batters.

In Carricato’s first season in Hickory, the Herkimer College transfer appeared in 44 games and notched a team-high .369 batting average in his 157 at-bats. The redshirt junior tallied 26 extra-base hits with 14 doubles and 11 home runs.

Both Bean and Carricato were both named First Team Preseason All-SAC members on Tuesday alongside Tyler McPeak and Cole Laskowski.

The only other school in the South Atlantic Conference to have members on the team was Newberry. The Wolves also had two members make the team with outfielder Donovan Ford and starting pitcher Bennett Roemer.

The Conference Carolinas had the most representation on the team with nine members, followed by the SAC with four while the Peach Belt Conference had a single representative.
