Pair of App State Women’s Basketball Players Earn Academic All-District Honors
App State graduate student Brooke Bigott and redshirt senior Janay Sanders were named to the 2022-23 Academic All-District Women’s Basketball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, on Tuesday.
Bigott and Sanders have each started all 27 games this season, with two games remaining in the regular season.
Bigott, an exercise science major with a concentration in strength and conditioning, averages a team-best 4.5 per game this season. The Katy, Texas, native has scored double-figure points in seven games, with a season high of 16.
Sanders, a business administration major with a concentration in supply chain management, leads the team in scoring at 13.5 points per game. The Charlotte, N.C., native scored her 1,000th collegiate career point against Coastal Carolina on Feb. 4, matching her career high of 26. She is a top-10 scorer in the Sun Belt this season.
To be nominated for CSC Academic All-District recognition, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least at 3.50 cumulative GPA at their current institution and have played in at least 50 percent of the team’s contests. Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First, Second, and Third Team All-America honorees will be announced on March 15.
