One Person Killed in Lincoln County Accident Monday

One person was killed in a two-vehicle accident in Lincoln County yesterday (August 14). The deceased is 56-year-old David Joseph McCurry of Lincolnton.

At about 1:45 p.m. Monday, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to the crash scene on Old N.C. Highway 150 at Saint Marks Church Road. A northbound 1997 GMC Sonoma on Saint Marks Church Road failed to stop at a stop sign and was struck by an eastbound 2021 Ford F-350 traveling east on Old N.C. 150.

Mr. McCurry, who was driving the Sonoma, passed away at the scene. He was not restrained by a seat belt. The driver of the Ford, a 36-year-old Bessemer City man, received minor injuries and was not transported to the hospital.

The initial investigation does not indicate impairment to be a contributing factor. No charges will be filed. During the on-scene investigation, the roadway was closed in the area for over an hour.
