No COVID-19 Related Deaths Reported Monday In Hickory Metro: Tuesday Morning Update

There were no COVID-19-related deaths reported Monday (February 22) in the Hickory Metro. In Catawba County, 49 new cases of the coronavirus were confirmed, raising the overall total to 16,896, with 276 deaths. 48 people were hospitalized with the virus.

40 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Caldwell County. That’s the total since the last update last Friday (February 19). The overall total is 8,533, with 129 deaths. An outbreak has been identified at Hickory Falls Health and Rehabilitation in Granite Falls. 49 staff members and 102 patients have tested positive for COVID-19 since January. This marks the second outbreak at the facility, which is licensed for 120 beds.

24 new cases of the coronavirus were confirmed between Saturday (February 20) and Monday in Burke County, increasing the total to 9,356, with 138 deaths. There were eight people hospitalized. According to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, 17 new cases of the virus were reported in Alexander County, increasing the total to 3,856, with 76 deaths.
