NEWTON, N.C. (WHKY) – 32-year-old Emily Noelle Thompson, who is listed as a homeless person from Newton, was arrested today (October 2) by authorities in Lincoln County. She’s charged in Catawba County with felony possession of schedule II controlled substance. According to court records, the charge is in connection to an incident that occurred on August 7, 2026 when the suspect was allegedly in possession of fentanyl.

The charge is from a warrant filed by the Newton Police Department. Following the arrest, Thompson was incarcerated in the Catawba County Detention Facility without bond. A District Court date was scheduled Monday (October 5).
