Newton Woman Arrested in Hickory for Failure to Appear

37-year-old Wendy Marie Curtis of Clarks Creek Circle in Newton was arrested by Hickory Police at 8:20 Friday evening (March 19) on felony and misdemeanor counts of failure to appear. She was also served an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. She allegedly failed to appear in court on charges of felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor displaying an expired license or registration plate on a vehicle. The warrant was for possession of less than half-an-ounce of marijuana.

Curtis was taken into custody without incident at a hotel on 13th Avenue Drive S.E. in Hickory. She was jailed in the Catawba Co. Detention Facility under a $27,000 secured bond. She has since been released. District Court appearances were set for April 12 & 13 in Newton with a Superior Court date on the meth charge coming up on May 17.
