Newton Man Killed in Thursday Evening Motorcycle Crash

64-year-old Raymond Francis Salisbury, Jr. of Newton was killed in a motorcycle accident yesterday (September 30). At about 6:30 p.m. yesterday, the N.C. State Highway Patrol responded to the accident on Interstate 40, near Exit 130 at the 1st Street West (Old U.S. 70) overpass.

A 1998 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Mr. Salisbury was traveling east on I-40 when it ran off the road to the left into the median and collided with the bridge pier. Mr. Salisbury was ejected. He passed away at the scene.

Troopers were on-scene for approximately two hours during the initial investigation.
