39-year-old Horace Eugene Bost of South Ervin Avenue in Newton was arrested Thursday (March23) by Newton Police Officers. He’s charged with felony second-degree arson and misdmeanor resisting a public officer.

Bost is accused of setting fire to a home on the 200 block of South Ervin Avenue in Newton. Police reports say Bost set fire to the front porch before running into the home through the front door. He then reportedly exited the home through the back.

Bost was confined in the Catawba County Detention Facility under $1,000,000 bond. He remained in jail as of earlier today (March 27). The next District Court date for Bost is set for April 13.
