Newton Man Jailed for Sex Offender Residence Violations

37-year-old Fred Allen Lovelace of Journey’s Pass in Newton has been arrested by Catawba County Sheriff’s Officers on two sex offender residence violations and one count as a sex offender on child premises.

Lovelace is permanently on the North Carolina Sex Offender Registry as the result of a May 2005 second-degree rape conviction in Catawba County. The incident occurred in 2003 when Lovelace was 17 years old and the victim was 13. He was also convicted of indecent liberties with a minor in Cabarrus County in 2017.

Lovelace was jailed today (April 20) in the Catawba County Detention Facility with bond set at $80,000. He’ll make a first appearance in District Court tomorrow in Newton.
