50-year-old Christopher Andrew Godfrey of Viewpoint Road in Newton was arrested Monday (March 13) by Catawba County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to appear on a count of sexual battery and felony probation violation.

Godfrey is on probation as a result of a conviction in Catawba County in October 2021 on felony counts of possession with intent to sell schedule II controlled substance and possession of schedule II controlled substance. He received probation and a 30 month suspended sentence.

Following Monday’s arrest, Godfrey was jailed in the Catawba County Detention Facility under $31,000 bond. District Court appearances were scheduled today (March 14) and March 27, a Superior Court date is set for March 20.
