22-year-old Joshua Nathaniel Mast of Springdale Drive in Newton was arrested Monday (May 1) by Probation & Parole Officers. He’s charged with attempted trafficking of fentanyl and felony probation violation.

Mast is on probation as a result of a conviction in Catawba County in August, 2022 on felony counts of trafficking schedule I controlled substance and possession with intent to sell schedule IV controlled substance. He received probation and a 36 month suspended sentence. Following Monday’s arrest, Mast was confined in the Catawba County Detention Facility under $15,000 bond. A Superior Court date is scheduled for May 8.
