NEWTON, N.C. (WHKY) – A 38-year-old Newton man is facing a felony assault charge. According to Catawba County Detention Facility records, Derek Adam Brown was arrested Saturday (September 26) by the Newton Police Department and charged with felony assault of an individual with a disability.

According to court records, the suspect allegedly assaulted the male victim by hitting him multiple times with his fist. Brown was jailed under no bond. He is scheduled to appear in Catawba County District Court on September 28.
