34-year-old Sean Patrick Beatty of North Main Avenue in Newton was arrested last Friday (October 6) on charges filed by two agencies. Newton Police charged Beatty with possession of methamphetamine and resisting a public officer. Probation & Parole charged him with parole violation.

Beatty is on parole as a result of a conviction in Catawba County in July, 2014 on multiple felony charges including breaking & entering, larceny, and trafficking schedule I controlled substance. He was released on October 13, 2022. His parole was scheduled to end on January 11, 2024. Following Friday’s arrest, Beatty was jailed in the Catawba County Detention Facility under $3000 bond. He remained in jail as of earlier today. A District Court date was scheduled Monday (October 9).
