48-year-old Nichole Denies Upenieks of Lower Timberidge Road in Newland was arrested last Tuesday (September 12) by Morganton Public Safety Officers. She’s charged with felony possession of schedule II controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Tuesday a Public Safety Officer responded to a welfare check on Morganton Heights Boulevard. During the response Nicole Upenieks was arrested for having possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia. According to the arrest, police seized .4 grams of crack cocaine.

The suspect was brought to the Burke County Jail under $5,000 secured bond. She was not listed as an inmate as of earlier today (September 18). A first appearance in District Court was scheduled last Thursday (September 14), her next District Court date is October 5.
