New York Man Jailed On Iredell County Drug Trafficking Charges
36-year-old Dwight Connie Reed of Buffalo, New York was arrested last Wednesday (March 22) by Iredell County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with felony counts of trafficking marijuana by possession and transport, possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, and maintaining a vehicle for the sale of a controlled substance. He’s also charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
On Wednesday, Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Deputies with the Interstate Criminal Enforcement (ICE) Team conducted a traffic stop on a 2023 Jeep Wrangler on Interstate 77 south near the 61 mile marker. The vehicle was stopped for multiple traffic violations. During the course of the traffic stop Deputies learned that the driver of the vehicle, Dwight Connie Reed, was listed in the National Database by the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) as a Violent Criminal Gang Member.
In searching the vehicle, police reportedly found 28 pounds of high-grade marijuana in large suitcases. Reed was arrested and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center. He was jailed under $300,000 secured bond and remained in jail as of earlier today (March 28). A District Court date is scheduled for April 12.

Reed’s criminal history includes felony counts of criminal possession of a weapon, possession of five or more firearms, along with misdemeanor counts of larceny, obstruct governmental administration, and driving while intoxicated.
