HICKORY, N.C. (WHKY) — The Sails Original Music Series returns to downtown Hickory Friday, September 4th, with a free performance by New Translations.

The concert begins at 7 p.m. on Union Square. The Nashville group blends synth-pop, alternative rock, post-punk and shoegaze and has appeared at Bonnaroo and toured nationally with Rainbow Kitten Surprise.

The performance also launches Passions Alive, a September project combining live music and visual art. Hickory artist Dan Smith will create a painting during the concert.

Audience members may bring lawn chairs or blankets. Nearby restaurants and businesses will be open, and beverages must follow Hickory’s social-district rules. The concert is scheduled to run until about 8:30 p.m.
