The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office and Maiden Police Department are adding a total of seven additional deputies and officers to their existing ranks of School Resource Officers (SROs). These SROs are being added to further enhance safety and security at Catawba County’s elementary schools.
The Catawba County Board of Commissioners, Maiden Town Council and Catawba County Schools worked in close partnership with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office and Maiden Police Department to pool resources, including salaries and equipment, toward this collaborative effort.
The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office is assigning six SROs to complement existing staff assigned to Catawba County Schools’ elementary, middle and high schools. Maiden Police Department is taking the initiative to assign an SRO to Maiden Elementary School, which is a county school located inside the Town of Maiden. Maiden Police Department already staffs Maiden High School and Maiden Middle School (both county schools) with resource officers.
