New County Attorney Named In Alexander County

Alexander County Government recently hired Ben Faulkenberry as County Attorney to serve as the county’s chief legal officer. Responsibilities include providing legal advice to the Alexander County Board of Commissioners, County Manager, and all county departments.

In the new role, Faulkenberry will represent the county in all legal matters such as the preparation of contracts, deeds, easements, ordinances, and more. He will also promote open, fair, and impartial processes and procedures for the operation of county boards and departments.

A native of Alexander County, Faulkenberry is a 2003 graduate of Alexander Central High School. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2007 and graduated from the Elon University School of Law in 2011. Faulkenberry served as a prosecutor for the NC Courts system for 10 years in Iredell, Catawba, and Alexander counties.

By law, the county attorney may not provide legal advice or representation to citizens on private matters and is prohibited from giving personal advice to the public at large. The office does not handle traffic offenses or other enforcement of the criminal statutes, which is the responsibility of the district attorney’s office.
