NCWorks Plans Job Fair in Alexander County for Former MG+BW employees

A Taylorsville furniture company closed down over the weekend. According to published reports, the closure is due to monetary problems leaving it unable to continue operations.

As previously reported on WHKY, Officials with the company, Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams, posted signs on the truck gate and office door of the Taylorsville plant at One Comfortable Place off Millersville Road. The notices were dated Saturday, August 26.

Alexander County Government issued the following statement Sunday (August 27) in reaction to the closure: Alexander County Government is saddened by the abrupt closure of Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams and the many people who lost their jobs. The county had no prior knowledge of this closing, but is currently working with the Western Piedmont Council of Governments (WPCOG), NCWorks, and local industries to assist these individuals as soon as possible.

On Wednesday, August 30 NCWorks stated in a press release: To assist those who recently lost their jobs, NCWorks and the Western Piedmont Workforce Development Board are planning an Alexander County Job Fair on Tuesday, September 12 from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. at East Taylorsville Baptist Church.
