NCDOT Releases List Of Alexander County Damage Sites

The North Carolina Department of Transportation has provided a list of damage sites from last week’s flooding resulting in road closures in Alexander County. There are also minor damage areas across the county that did not result in closures. Crews were continuing to work to repair these sites as diligently as possible. DOT Division 12 anticipates letting emergency purchase order contracts to repair sites as well, with the first being Sulphur Springs Road in Hiddenite.

Pre-bid meetings were scheduled to be held this week. Many of the culvert locations are being assessed for scope of work and hydraulic review. Schedules of these sites are difficult to predict at this stage. Ramie Mitchell Road is expected to be repaired by the end of this week. Crews were also scheduled to begin repairing the Cheatham Ford Bridge at the end of this week.

These are the roads listed by the NCDOT: 2535 Rocky Springs Road, a total roadway washout at the bridge pipe location. Macedonia Church Road at Glade Creek, a total roadway washout at the bridge pipe location. Millersville Road at N.C. 16, a total roadway washout at the bridge pipe location.

Nester Road at Millersville Road, a total roadway washout at the Bridge location. 958 Sulphur Springs Road, a total roadway washout at the bridge pipe location. Rocky Face Church Road at Pressley Court, a total roadway washout at the bridge pipe location. 1949 Berea Church Quincy Road, a total roadway washout at the bridge pipe location.

7858 Cheatham Ford Road, closed at the bridge pipe location. Old Wilkesboro Road at Jaycee Park Loop, a total roadway washout at the bridge pipe location. Hopewell Church Road at Mill Creek, a total roadway washout at the bridge pipe location. 591 Berea Church Quincy, a total roadway washout at the 48” maintenance pipe location.

1069 Lackey Mountain Road, a roadway washout at the 48” Maintenance Pipe Location. Smith Grove Church Road, a total Washout of the 48” maintenance pipe. Jud Smith Road at Marlowe Road, the 48” maintenance pipe is undermined making the road unsafe to pass; road closed and detoured. Cheatham Ford Road, washed out at end bent. And Ramie Mitchell Road at the South Yadkin River, a total roadway washout at bent.

The roads are closed in both directions. Commuters are advised to never go around a barricade.
