RALEIGH, N.C. (WHKY) — North Carolina DMV officials say average wait times at driver-license offices have dropped to a little more than 20 minutes statewide.

The agency credits additional employees, more office locations and a growing number of online services. Officials say roughly 350,000 transactions have been completed online during the past nine or ten months.

The DMV says its next goal is to bring average waits down to about 15 minutes.

More changes are coming October 1, when North Carolina will move to electronic vehicle registration records and stop issuing traditional registration stickers.
