National Night Out is October 3 in Downtown Lenoir

The City of Lenoir Police Department is hosting National Night Out from 6:00 to 9:00 pm Tuesday, October 3, 2023, in Downtown Lenoir. Come meet your local police officers and enjoy live music, free food, kid’s activities, and more!

National Night Out is an annual community-building event that promotes police and community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.

“National Night Out is a great event that allows both the Community and Police to come together in a positive environment to discuss programs, initiatives, capabilities, or issues,” Lenoir Police Major Andy Wilson said. “Our department looks forward to this event every year and the community engagement it cultivates with not only the Lenoir Police Department, but the many other government agencies that attend.”

In addition to the food, music by Soul Watt, and activities, there will be a Law Enforcement Car Show and a Dress Like a Police Officer Costume Contest with prizes for kiddos 10 and under. The car show will be on Main Street between West Avenue and Ashe Avenue.

The Dress Like a Police Officer Costume Contest will be at the Downtown Stage. The contest is open to children 10 and under. The best-dressed boy and girl will win a Razor Scooter and helmet. They will also get to eat lunch at school with Police Chief Brent Phelps! The contest will start around 7:00 pm. Show up dressed like a law enforcement officer and head to the Downtown Stage around 6:45 pm.
