The Burke County Sheriff’s Office was in the process of concluding its investigation into a fatal shooting earlier this week. The name of the man who was shot and killed has been released by authorities. He is 45-year-old Robert Winston J. Perkins, Jr. of Knob Avenue in Connelly Springs. A male relative of Perkins was shot and injured.
Shortly before 12:30 a.m. Wednesday (July 29), the Burke County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to an address on Knob Avenue in Connelly Springs. Police were told that there was yelling, screaming and gunshots at that residence. Upon arrival, Sheriff’s deputies learned that two men had been shot and a man involved in the shooting had left the scene with a woman.
One of the men was deceased at the scene and the other was transported to a trauma center for medical treatment. The person who was involved in the shooting and had left the scene turned himself in to Cleveland County Sheriff’s Deputies. The Burke County Criminal Investigations Division (CID) has interviewed that individual. CID also located, and was in the process of interviewing, the woman who had left the scene.
The man who was injured in the shooting and brought to the trauma center was last reported to be in stable condition. The Burke County Sheriff’s Office CID was in the process of wrapping up the investigation and was going to submit their findings to the District Attorney’s Office to determine if any charges will be issued.
