N.E. Hickory Mobile Home Sustains Major Damage in Monday Afternoon Fire

At about 4:10 Monday afternoon (January 8), Hickory Firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire at 1225 14th Street N.E. Firefighters responded with two engines, one ladder, a rescue truck, and two command units. Catawba County E.M.S. also responded.

Upon arrival, Firefighters saw smoke coming from the structure and were told that a person was still inside. Firefighters removed one person from the structure and worked to contain the fire, which was burning in the rear of the mobile home. The occupant was checked by Catawba County E.M.S. and released at the scene.

The fire was reported under control at about 4:20 p.m. No injuries were reported, but damages to the mobile home were considered major. Hickory Fire Investigators responded and determined the cause of the fire to be electrical. The Red Cross was called to assist the occupant.
