At about 6:10 p.m. Monday, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to the crash scene on N.C. Highway 18 near Miller Bridge Road. A Honda motorcycle was traveling north on N.C. 18 when it crossed the centerline, collided head-on with a southbound 2019 Chevrolet Express van, and caught on fire.

The driver of the motorcycle passed away at the scene. The driver of the van, a 31-year-old man from Vale, was not injured.
