A man driving a motorcycle was killed in a Friday (July 14) crash in Iredell County. The deceased is 52-year-old Tony Jason Hedrick of Statesville.

On Friday at approximately 3:30 p.m., the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to Amity Hill Road near Tucker Road. A 2004 Honda motorcycle was traveling east on Amity Hill Road, drove off the right side of the road, and struck a tree.

The driver, Tony Jason Hedrick, was ejected from the motorcycle and transported by EMS to Lake Norman Regional Medical Center, where he passed away as a result of his injuries.

During the on-scene investigation, Amity Hill Road was closed in the area for one hour. The initial investigation indicates impairment to be the contributing circumstance in the collision.
