Morning Fire At Hickory Home Extinguished

The Hickory Fire Department responded to a fire at a vacant home this morning (March 4). At approximately 7:35 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire in the area of 1523 5th Avenue SW.

They responded with two engines, a ladder, one rescue truck, and two command units. Hickory Police and Catawba County EMS also responded to the incident. On arrival, firefighters reported smoke coming from the basement of the vacant house.

Responders checked the building for possible occupants and worked to extinguish the fire, which was quickly contained. No injuries were reported and damages to the building are considered moderate. The fire is under investigation.
