Morganton Woman Jailed On Felony, Misdemeanor Drug Charges
29-year-old Britney Nicole Cantrell of Ed Bowman Street in Morganton was arrested Monday (October 16) by Morganton Public Safety Officers. She’s charged with felony possession of schedule II controlled substance (methamphetamine) along with misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to appear on a count of failure to comply.
Shortly after 4 p.m. Monday a Public Safety Officer responded to an address on Burkemont Avenue for a welfare check. During the investigation, the officer reportedly seized .9 grams of methamphetamine. Cantrell was arrested and brought to the Burke County Jail.
According to the North Carolina Department Of Adult Correction Offender Public Information webiste, Britney Nicole Cantrell has convictions dating back to 2011 in Watauga and Burke Counties. All of the convictions were on misdemeanor charges with the most recent being in November of 2022 in Watauga County. She was convicted of larceny and received probation and an 18 month suspended sentence.
Following Monday’s arrest, Cantrell was incarcerated in the Burke County Jail where she was being held under a 48 hour hold or until the first judge becomes available. She remained in jail as of earlier today (October 17). A District Court appearance was scheduled today.
