53-year-old Wanda Lee Carmen of Salem Road in Morganton was arrested Monday (December 4) by Morganton Public Safety Officers. She’s charged with felony counts of breaking and entering and larceny of chose in action.
Shortly after 4 p.m. Monday, a Public Safety Officer responded to Walmart Supercenter on Morganton Heights Boulevard in Morganton for a shoplifting complaint. The officer met with the Loss Prevention Manager and the suspect, Carmen. The Loss Prevention Manager told the officer that Carmen had previously been banned from the store and was caught shoplifting. The police report says that Carmen admitted to the officer that she did take the merchandise.
According to the North Carolina Judicial Branch website, Carmen is also charged in Burke County with misdemeanor larceny along with traffic offenses. Following Monday’s arrest, Carmen was brought to the Burke County Jail under $5,000 secured bond. She was not listed as an inmate as of earlier today (December 8). District Court appearances are scheduled for December 15 and January 18.
