59-year-old Thisbe Johnette Caldwell of Pete Brittain Road in Morganton was arrested Saturday (July 22) by Morganton Public Safety Officers. She’s charged with felony possession of schedule II controlled substance (cocaine). A second suspect was arrested in this case on misdemeanor charges.

Saturday, shortly after 12:30 a.m., a Public Safety Officer conducted a traffic stop of a tan 2004 Buick Rendezvous on South Sterling Street in Morganton. The vehicle was stopped after the officer reportedly saw the occupants of the vehicle litter while traveling above the speed limit.

After making contact with the vehicle occupants, Caldwell was placed under arrest for possession of cocaine and the other occupant was arrested on misdemeanor charges. Police records show that one-half gram of cocaine was seized during the traffic stop.

Caldwell was brought to the Burke County Jail under $2,500 secured bond. She was not listed as an inmate as of earlier today (July 24). A District Court appearance was scheduled today.
