Morganton Woman Arrested in Hickory on Meth Charge; Additional Outstanding Warrants

29-year-old Christian Yvonne Barnette of Glen Powell Avenue in Morganton was arrested by Hickory Police at about 1:25 yesterday afternoon (July 22) on felony counts of attempting to obtain property by false pretense and possession of a schedule II controlled substance, along with misdemeanor forgery of a credit card and larceny.

Barnette was arrested following a traffic stop at the intersection of 13th Avenue Drive S.E. and 10th Avenue Drive S.E. During the incident, Officers found a syringe containing methamphetamine. She was also arrested on outstanding warrants that were issued in Burke County on June 25.

Barnette was taken into custody without incident and jailed in the Catawba Co. Detention Facility under a $19,500 secured bond. A first appearance in District Court was scheduled today (July 23) in Newton. She’ll also appear in a Morganton courtroom on July 27.
