Morganton Woman Arrested for Meth & Probation Violations after Fleeing from Officers

34-year-old Chasity Dawn Ross of Snowhill Church Road in Morganton was arrested by Burke County Sheriff’s Deputies Monday (February 12) on felony counts of possession of a schedule II controlled substance (methamphetamine) and fleeing to elude arrest, along with a misdemeanor count of simple possession of a schedule III controlled substance. She was also charged with two felony probation violations.

Prior to her arrest, Ross’ name had been entered into the National Crime Information Center’s database for the probation violations. Monday, Deputies saw a female driving a black sedan. The driver matched the description of Chasity Ross. Officers initiated a traffic stop, but Ross fled in the vehicle into eastern Burke County. The chase started on Sugar Loaf Road and continued for about three miles. At that point, Ross made a right-hand turn onto a gravel road that led to an address on Sugar Loaf Road. Ross then exited the vehicle and fled on foot. She was apprehended a short time later. Deputies searched the vehicle and recovered meth and suboxone.

Ross was placed in the Burke County Jail with bond set at $75,000, secured. She remained in jail as of this afternoon (February 15). She was scheduled to appear in court on February 13. A Superior Court date in Morganton is coming up on March 6.
