Morganton Road To Be Closed For Up To 18 Months For Bridge Work
A road has been closed in Morganton and will remain so for up to a year-and-a-half. The City of Morganton was notified by the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) earlier this year that a private road used as one of the entrances of the Morganton Heights Shopping Center would be temporarily closed.
That closure began on October 18, it was closed due to bridge construction. The entrance closed is in between Panera/Aspen Dental and Urgent Care. According to a news release from the City of Morganton, the road will remain closed for an extended amount of time until construction in the area is complete. The NCDOT expects the work to take from 12-18 months.
Officials ask drivers to use the two remaining entrances while the closure is taking place. They are also reminding drivers to be aware of NCDOT workers in the roadway as they are working. If you have any questions you can direct them to the nearest NCDOT office. Burke County is in Division 13, the phone number is 828-250-3000.
