Morganton Man Jailed On Felony Drug Charge

34-year-old Darius Edward Connelly, who is listed as a homeless man from Morganton, was arrested Monday (February 20) by Morganton Public Safety Officers. He’s charged with felony possession of schedule II controlled substance (methamphetamine).

Shortly after 10 p.m. a Morganton Public Safety Officer responded to a call in reference to a trespassing complaint. The officer responded to an address on Burkemont Avenue in Morganton. During the investigation, the officer seized .05 grams of methamphetamine and arrested Darius Edward Connelly.

According to the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction Offender Public Information website, Connelly has multiple convictions in Burke County dating back to 2019. He’s been convicted of charges including felony counts of breaking and entering to a vehicle and possession of schedule II controlled substance.

Following Monday’s arrest, Connelly was confined in the Burke County Jail under $3,000 secured bond. He remained in jail as of earlier today (February 23). A District Court appearance was scheduled today in Morganton.
