Morganton Man Held on Half Million Bond on Meth, Fentanyl, & Firearms Charges

38-year-old Kyle Blackburn Brown of Salem Road in Morganton was arrested by Burke County Sheriff’s Officers on May 21 on charges of felony trafficking in methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. One day later, he was charged with felony counts of maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a felon, trafficking in fentanyl, and possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver a schedule II controlled substance.

He was arrested after an investigation that spanned several months. A search warrant was executed at Brown’s residence. Investigators located and seized approximately 53 grams of suspected methamphetamine, approximately 31 grams of suspected fentanyl, drug paraphernalia, and two firearms. The North Carolina Department of Public Safety’s K-9 Unit was involved in the search.

Brown was placed in the Burke County Jail with bond initially set at $10,000, secured. The additional charges were filed in connection with the suspected narcotics that were found in the residence. The suspect was then held without bond. Bond has since been set at $500,000, secured. A first appearance in District Court was scheduled on May 23 with another court date coming up on June 13 in Morganton.
