Morganton Man Has Late August Court Date On Felony, Misdemeanor Drug Charges

45-year-old Harvey Lee Edwards of Clark Loop in Morganton was arrested by Burke County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with felony possession of schedule II controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Shortly before midnight on August 8, a Burke County Sheriff’s Officer stopped a vehicle on Dentons Chapel Road in Morganton. Contact was made with the suspect, Harvey Lee Edwards. The officer reportedly found what is described as suspected methamphetamine in the suspect’s vehicle. Edwards was taken into custody.

According to the North Carolina Department Of Adult Correction Offender Public Information website, Harvey Lee Edwards has multiple convictions listed dating back to 2002. He’s been convicted of various charges including felony and misdemeanor drug counts, felony counts of possession of stolen goods and identity fraud or theft, and felony obtaining property by false pretense. The convictions were in Burke, Catawba, Iredell, Mitchell, and Watauga Counties. The most recent conviction was for felony possession of schedule II controlled substance in Burke County on January 10, 2023.

Edwards was brought to the Burke County Jail under $3,000 secured bond following last week’s arrest. He was not listed as an inmate in Burke County as of earlier today (August 16). A District Court date on the drug charges is set for August 31.
