22-year-old Matthew Wade Kersey of Shatman Road in Morganton was arrested Thursday (January 28) by Caldwell County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with felony counts of larceny of a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, and chop shop activity by theft, fraud, or other illegal means. He’s also charged with misdemeanor resisting a public officer. Kersey was jailed in the Caldwell County Detention Center under $30,000 secured bond. A District Court appearance is scheduled next Monday (February 1).
