Morganton Man Charged With Failing To Register As Sex Offender
35-year-old David Allen Proctor of Causby Drive in Morganton was arrested last Thursday (April 27) by Burke County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with two felony counts of failure to register as a sex offender.
Proctor is on the North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry as a result of a conviction in September, 2010, in Burke County for indecent liberties with a minor. Proctor was 22-years-old at the time of the offense in April, 2010 and the victim was 15-years-old. He did not receive jail time and was sentenced to 48 months of probation.
According to the North Carolina Department Of Adult Correction Offender Public Information website, Proctor’s criminal history includes multiple convictions dating back to 2010. All of the convictions were in Burke County with the most recent occurring in November, 2022 for felony child abuse.
Proctor was arrested last Thursday shortly before 3 p.m. at his residence. He was brought to the Burke County Jail under a $10,000 secured bond. Proctor was not listed as an inmate in Burke County as of earlier today (May 2). His next District Court date is set for May 19.
