Morganton Man Charged With Drug Offenses Following Trespassing Complaint
34-year-old Phillip Coleman Padgett, who is listed as a homeless person from Morganton, was arrested Tuesday (September 26) by Morganton Public Safety Officers. He’s charged with felony possession of schedule II controlled substance along with misdemeanor counts of possession of marijuana up to one-half ounce and possession of drug paraphernalia. Padgett is also charged with failure to appear on a felony in Catawba County.
Shortly after 7:30 p.m. Tuesday a Public Safety Officer responded to an address on West Fleming Drive in Morganton after a trespassing complaint was filed. Upon arrival, the officer made contact with the suspect, Phillip Coleman Padgett. He was initially placed under arrest on the failure to appear warrant. The officer also charged Padgett with the drug offenses.
The charge that Padgett allegedly failed to appear for in Catawba County was not specified. Following Tuesday’s arrest, he was confined in the Burke County Jail under $110,000 secured bond. He remained in jail as of earlier today. His next District Court date in Burke County is October 16. No upcoming court dates were listed in Catawba County.
