Morganton Man Charged Arrested On Drug Charges Following Shoplifting Complaint

26-year-old Sean Cole Burns of Randolph Street in Morganton was arrested Tuesday (October 3) by Morganton Public Safety Officers. He’s charged with two felony counts of possession of schedule II controlled substance and one misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia. A second suspect was arrested in this case and charged with a misdemeanor offense.

Shortly before 4:30 p.m. Tuesday Public Safety Officers responded to a business on Morganton Heights Boulevard in Morganton. The officers were responding to a shoplifting complaint. When the officers arrived, they made contact with the suspects. Following an investigation, the two suspects were arrested and charged. Police seized .1 grams of methamphetamine and .2 grams of fentanyl during the arrest.

Following his arrest, Burns was brought to the Burke County Jail where he was incarcerated under $5,000 secured bond. He remained in jail as of earlier today (October 5) under that same bond amount. A District Court appearance was scheduled today in Morganton.
