33-year-old Aaron Augustus Keffer of Leonhart Road in Morganton has been arrested by Burke County Sheriff’s Officers on a charge of felony indecent liberties with a child.

He was arrested after an alleged sexual assault of a child by an adult was reported to the Sheriff’s Office on March 20. An investigation was conducted and — after several interviews — a warrant was issued for Keffer’s arrest. Assisting in the investigation were the Burke County Child Advocacy Center and the Burke County Department of Social Services.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident on March 24. He was confined in the Burke County Jail under a $15,000 secured bond. Keffer’s first court appearance was scheduled last Friday (March 24) with another court date coming up on April 17 in Morganton.
