20-year-old Jesse Lee Powell of Lonnie Shuffler Street in Morganton was arrested Wednesday (April 19) by Morganton Public Safety Officers. He’s charged on warrants from Caldwell County with felony breaking or entering to a building and misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.

Shortly before 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, a Public Safety Officer conducted a traffic stop on a silver 2018 Toyota Camry on East Main Street in Glen Alpine. According to police reports, the officer saw the vehicle fail to come to a complete stop at a stop sign. The vehicle was also traveling ten miles-per-hour over the speed limit.

When the officer made contact with the driver, identified as the suspect, Powell, it was learned that there was an active warrant for his arrest in Caldwell County. Powell was brought to the Burke County Jail under $1,000 secured bond. He was scheduled to appear in District Court in Caldwell County Thursday (April 20).
