Morganton Man Arrested On Break-In Charges After Being Found Hiding In Wooded Area

26-year-old Benjamin Isidro Jorge-Xiloj, who is listed as a homeless person from Morganton, was arrested today (November 13) by Morganton Public Safety Officers. He’s charged with felony counts of breaking & entering and larceny after breaking & entering.

Late Sunday night (November 12) the Morganton Department of Public Safety received an alarm call at a business address on Stonebridge Drive in Morganton. Officers arrived at the scene and checked the business and found a broken glass door. A thorough search of the building did not result in the discovery of any suspects. While securing the scene and awaiting a key holder, officers checked the surrounding woods behind the business.

Two computers and other electronic equipment items taken from the business were found stashed near the fence behind the business. Directly behind those items, a male suspect was spotted hiding behind a fallen tree. He was taken into custody and identified as Benjamin Jorge-Xiloj of Morganton.

The suspect was incarcerated in the Burke County Jail under $10,000 secured bond. According to Public Safety, Jorge-Xiloj has a prior charge of breaking and entering to a place of worship filed earlier this year. He was scheduled to appear in District Court today on the break-in charges filed this morning.
